Chariot's Rant on Timber Gap
Just when you thought it was okay to like a giant, materialistic corporation, you find out the ugly truth.
Okay, I admit it. All spiritual aspirations aside, I'm a materialist. I like my stuff. I want nice sneakers and clothes that fit well and are slightly fashionable; I like my toys!
Let's face it: you've still got to live and work "out there" and you might as well be happy about it. So what do you do to get your spiritual side and your "out there" side to get along?
You try to find companies that can make you happy and don't upset your ethics.
I like The Gap. Their clothes fit me, not some robot clone who has a 32 inch waist and stands 5 foot 10 or taller. And their advertising doesn't insult my intelligence or sense of style.
And then I fund out. The owners of The Gap, who have a family fortune in the billions, are logging old growth forests. Not only are they logging, they are "clear cutting" which means they kill everything and leave a wasteland.
I won't be burning my Gap clothes, but you can bet I won't shop there anymore.
