I'm not a Witch, or at least that's not what I call myself. So much is about labels these days...and while a part of me despises labels, I also realize that they help define us, even to ourselves. So, I say I am not a Witch. I do not call myself Wiccan, either; though for convenience's sake and expedience I have used both those terms. What do I call myself? How do I define what I am, and by correlation what I do and believe?
First and foremost, I am a magus or sorcerer or magician; take your pick. I have practiced magick since adolescence, so that title must come first. I continue to practice magick outside of a religious context; and I have allied myself with the Chaos Current for several years, though I am not a member of IOT. My own, personal practices, have been typified by Chaos's tenets since before I knew there was such a Current. Eclectisim and paradigm shifting seem to be an essential part of my make up.
I am also a priest of the Goddess and Her Consort, who are known by many names and appear in a multitude of guises. My search for the divine started not long after my study of magick. I started with the church of my parents, but found that the god there did not answer to my call. Like many others, I found, however, that in a natural setting, under the light of the moon, I connected with a different force... one that truly loved me and answered my calls (or perhaps, I was answering Their call).
While I may have come to the Goddess through a natural setting, I think the fact that I run this website suggests that I am not a particularly green, tree-hugging naturalist. In fact, I believe you would have to add the prefix Techno to any label you applied to me: Techno-Magus, Techno-Pagan... I use technology to enhance both my magical and religious practice.
